WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that’s been used for thousands of years, and involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to promote natural healing and balance energy flow (Qi). It can benefit health by stimulating the nervous system, releasing endorphins, and increasing blood circulation.
Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
Pain management for headaches, back and neck pain, and arthritis/joint pain. It can also aid in:
Reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, acupuncture may help with:
Digestive issues like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and alleviate:
Respiratory disorders such as allergies and asthma. Some people also use acupuncture to support:
Fertility and address menstrual irregularities
HOW DOES IT WORK?
What to expect? Your first session will always start out with the prior completion of an in-depth intake form, followed by our first in-person session. During initial session, your practitioner will also take your pulse and look at your tongue; both diagnostic tools in Traditional Chinese Medicine. From here a treatment plan will be discussed and agreed upon, in addition to a first treatment.
How often? Receiving acupuncture once a week when initially starting out is a baseline suggestion. The recommendation will vary depending on a number of factors, including the nature of the condition (chronic vs acute). However, it’s also important to recognize that this isn’t always possible. We will work together to put together a plan that is both effective and time/financially feasible.
